Mr Herbert was welcomed to the small independent prep school by the Headmaster Matt Thomas, the school’s Chair of Governors Willy Hockin OBE, and the school’s Bursar Andrew Owens.  The school is the oldest prep school in West Sussex and one of the oldest in the country.  It has been located in the heart of the South Downs National Park for over 50 years.

The pupils from years 5 to 8 gathered in The Barn, one of the school’s buildings, to hear Mr Herbert talk about his work as an MP and life in Westminster.  The children then asked the MP questions covering topics from the modernisation of Parliament to local planning matters.

Mr Herbert said: “I really enjoyed meeting the children and answering their questions.  They demonstrated a keen knowledge for current affairs and asked some very thoughtful questions.”
